Why a Facebook page isn't enough for your chamber
4 Jul 2026
Almost every chamber doctor in Bangladesh already has a Facebook page. It has the photo, the chamber address, a phone number, and a few posts. So the fair question is: if the page is free and everyone is on Facebook, why would a doctor need a website at all?
The honest answer is that a Facebook page and a website do two different jobs. A page introduces you to people who already follow you. A website gets you found by the patients who don't — and then books them. You don't have to choose between them. The page stays; the website does the things a page structurally cannot.
A Facebook page does not show up when a patient googles a specialty. When someone types "liver specialist Uttara" or your name into Google, a Facebook page ranks far below directories, marketplaces, and other doctors who have their own sites. If you are not on that first screen, the patient never learns you exist. Your own domain, with your chambers and timings marked up for search, is what puts you there. We go deeper on this in how patients actually find a doctor online.
A Facebook page can't take a booking at 11pm. Patients decide to see a doctor at odd hours — after a bad night, after a report comes back. A page sends them to a phone line that is busy or closed. Every busy signal is a booking someone else got. A website with 24/7 online appointments captures that patient while you are in surgery or asleep, and pings you on WhatsApp.
You don't actually own your Facebook audience. Facebook decides how many of your followers see a post, and it can restrict or hide a page without warning. A domain and a patient contact list are yours — no algorithm sits between you and the people who trust you.
A page looks like every other page. There is no way, on Facebook, to show that you are a real, BMDC-registered specialist with three verified chambers and genuine patient reviews. A proper site carries those trust signals — the things that turn a stranger comparing two names into your next patient.
None of this means leaving Facebook. Keep posting there. Just point your bio link and your "Book" button to a site that can be found on Google, books the patient, and collects the reviews that bring the next one. That is the whole idea behind Doctor Pages: a done-for-you site built for how Bangladeshi chambers actually run — WhatsApp, bKash, serials, Bengali and English.
